  • These beautiful bamboo chopsticks are lightweight, flexible, and easy to use, with thin tips ideal for both beginners and experienced users. The bamboo’s natural color pairs nicely with the range of hand-painted colors/patterns. They are perfect for everyday use or as gifts.

Rice stalks (inaho) and ginkgo motifs decorate these bamboo chopsticks, symbols traditionally believed to bring good luck in Japan. Chopsticks have long been considered a thoughtful and meaningful gift, making these a perfect gift for someone special.

Yamachiku use only locally-grown and sustainably-harvested Moso bamboo from Kumamoto and Fukuoka—a thick, fast-growing variety that can reach 20 meters (65 ft) in just six months but must mature for 3–5 years to be strong enough for their chopsticks.

The chopstick-making process involves 30 steps, taking 40 days for hand-painted chopsticks and 80 days for lacquered ones. Yamachiku handles everything from forest to finished chopstick.
