These beautiful lightweight hexagonal bamboo chopsticks are easy to use, with thin square tips for a secure grip and precise picking—great for both beginners and seasoned users. The natural bamboo pairs nicely with the hand-painted color accents, while the hex shape keeps them from rolling on the table. Perfect for everyday meals or as a thoughtful gift.
Yamachiku use only locally-grown and sustainably-harvested Moso bamboo from Kumamoto and Fukuoka—a thick, fast-growing variety that can reach 20 meters (65 ft) in just six months but must mature for 3–5 years to be strong enough for their chopsticks.
The chopstick-making process involves 30 steps, taking 40 days for hand-painted chopsticks and 80 days for lacquered ones. Yamachiku handles everything from forest to finished chopstick.
