From One Kiln Studio in Kagoshima come these beautiful handcrafted bowls. Kido-san incorporates volcanic ash from nearby Sakurajima, one of Japan’s most active volcanoes, into the clay, giving the exterior a rich, dark tone with subtle iridescent highlights.
The Ash style carries the same deep, earthy tone throughout the interior.
The Blue style features a vibrant blue interior glaze, with a subtle green line appearing where the glaze meets the volcanic ash.
The White style is finished with a warm, cream-colored interior glaze, with a soft bluish-green halo where it meets the volcanic ash.
