    This seasonal summer shichimi togarashi showcases Tsujita-san’s exceptional skill as a spice blender. Shokibarai means “to dispel the summer heat,” while Gokujou means “highest quality.” To help you beat the heat, Tsujita-san created this extra-spicy blend, inspired by the tradition across Asia of eating spicy foods during the hottest months. The resulting perspiration helps cool the body naturally.

    If you’ve tried Tsujita’s shichimi togarashi before, you know his blends have plenty of character. This one delivers an immediate burst of chili heat that sets it apart from his other offerings. As the spice unfolds, the heat gives way to a layered harmony of sesame, sansho, yuzu, seaweed, and shiso. The lingering burn is balanced, addictive, and keeps you coming back for another bite.

    Sprinkle it over grilled meats, noodles, ramen, chilled somen, miso soup, rice dishes, vegetables, or anything that could use a little extra heat to help you cool down.
