From One Kiln Studio in Kagoshima come these beautiful, handcrafted bowls. Kido-san mixes volcanic ash from the nearby active volcano, Sakurajima, into the clay. This gives the exterior a rich dark tone with subtle, iridescent highlights.
The inside of the white style is finished with a cream-colored white glaze, and where it meets the volcanic ash, a soft bluish-green halo appears.
The blue style features a vibrant interior glaze, revealing a faint green line where the ash blends into the blue.
Available in four sizes: extra small, small, medium, and large.
The extra small bowl is perfect for serving Japanese pickles or condiments.
The small bowl is ideal for side dishes or desserts.
The medium bowl is just right for soups, yogurt, or morning granola.
The large bowl fits a hearty donburi or lunchtime salad.
Note (as of November 2025): what was previously called a small bowl is now referred to as a medium.
