  • Now two versions to choose from: original white-glazed interior and new blue-glazed interior.

From One Kiln studio in Kagoshima come these beautiful bowls. Into the clay Kido-san mixes volcanic ash from the local active volcano called Sakurajima. This gives the outside of these bowls a wonderful dark color with iridescent highlights.

The inside of one style is finished with a white glaze and the line between the glaze and the ash used on the outside yields a bluish-green halo.

The inside of the other style is finished in a vibrant blue. A faint green line is revealed where the ash meets the blue glaze.

Each style comes in three sizes - large, small and extra small.

The large bowl is big enough for a hearty donburi or lunchtime salad.

We love using the small bowl for soup, morning yogurt or granola.

The extra small bowl is perfect for small servings of Japanese pickles.

    • The large bowl is approximately 6 ½ inches in diameter and 2.7 inches tall
    • The small bowl is approximately 5 ½ inches in diameter and 2.3 inches tall
    • The extra small bowl is approximately 3.3 inches in diameter and 1.2 inches tall
    • Please wash by hand with mild soap and water
    • Made in Kagoshima, Japan
  • At his studio One Kiln Ceramics, Kido-san creates handmade pottery that evokes the beauty of his native Kagoshima Prefecture, Japan.
